Sunday Brunch

An update on our Sunday brunch (and again, sorry for the short notice):

Looks like our brunch will be held around 11:00 on Sunday morning. Also, the cost of the buffet is $8.00. Please let me (or Melissa Stacy Hoffman) know if you have questions about this event.

See you all very soon!!!

Updated Reunion Info! Please Read & Respond!

Our reunion is less than two weeks away!!! Here's some information of interest:

Please RSVP to all reunion events some time this week. You can do this easily by "voting" in the poll at the very bottom of this page.

If you're bringing spouses, significant others, and/or kids to certain events, post a reply to this message to confirm the number in your party.

If you're looking for hotel rooms, you might consider the following options:

  • Zeno's: from $48 - $64 (573-364-1301)
  • Quality Inn: $79 (573-364-8200)
  • Econo Lodge: $55 (573-341-3130)

Finally, here's a rundown of our weekend plans, with a few important notes thrown in. Please review, and let us know if you have questions or concerns.

Friday, October 10

  • At 5:30 (or come when you like!), we'll have pizza @ Alex's. (We have the back room reserved.)
  • We will go from Alex's to the RHS Homecoming football game, where we have bleacher space reserved for our class.
  • After the game, we'll meet for drinks @ TJ's (formerly Jimmy's, next to Alex's). Originally, we'd hoped to have an outdoor party, but we couldn't find a place within a good driving distance, so we thought it might be better - and safer - to stay closer to home.

Saturday, October 11

  • From 11:00 am to 3:00 pm, we'll have a Potluck BBQ @ Lion's Club Park (Pavilion #7). Meat will be provided. Please bring a side dish & your own beverages. No need to bake - chips, dips, store-bought salads or sides & desserts would all be great! (Also, just FYI - no dogs are allowed at the park.)
  • On Saturday night, we'll meet at Bruno's around 7:00 pm (or, again, come when you're ready!). If you haven't been home in awhile, you'll love what they've done with the place - the beer garden is very cool.

Sunday, October 12

  • We'll host a "Goodbye Brunch" @ the Sawmill Cafe. We're planning on meeting there around 11-12, but we're waiting to confirm the official time for this event. Check back this week, and we'll post the set-in-stone time as soon as possible.

That should do it!! Hope you're all as excited as we are! Again, please contact us if you have any questions or suggestions. And please dig out your old high school pictures...we'd all get a kick out of them!

Best to all!

It's Almost Reunion Time!!!

Hello, RHS Class of 98!

As you all know, our reunion weekend is fast approaching. Kacey and I are meeting in Rolla this weekend to finalize plans. I'll post another update on Monday to provide further specifics.

For now, I do need to know how many of us will be attending the Homecoming football game on Friday night - RHS needs a number so they can accommodate our rowdy group. Please reply to this post and RSVP to that event (please specify the number in your party).

Otherwise, please check back here on Monday!

Hope all is well, and I'm looking forward to seeing everyone soon!

Best,
Candice

It's Alive!!

Greetings, '98 kids! I have some new reunion information to report:

The 2008 RHS Homecoming football game has been scheduled for Friday, October 10, meaning that our reunion will take place October 10-12. I hope that everyone will be able to join us in Rolla for an old-days-good-time.

If you are definitely planning to attend the Homecoming football game, please post a comment to this message or contact me via email to confirm. The Athletics office needs an estimated number of attendees from our class (so they can square off plenty of bleacher space for us). There's no rush on this RSVP: I just need to report to RHS by September 1.

Also, we have settled on a location for our Sunday brunch: Melissa (Stacy) Hoffman has graciously arranged for us to meet at the Sawmill Cafe for a breakfast buffet. More details on this event are forthcoming.

Finally, we are still considering locations for our Friday night bonfire: if anyone has any ideas or suggestions, please email me. I think we can all agree that it wouldn't be a Rolla party without a keg in a field. :)

Thanks to all of you who have offered to help out: Kacey and I will definitely be calling in those favors over the next few months!

Have a wonderful Easter holiday!

And so it begins...

Greetings, RHS Class of 1998!

This is my son Bailey. He's in third grade, getting ready to turn 10 years old this summer. And in case you need reminding, this remarkable little person represents the amount of time that has passed since our high school graduation. Anyone feel old yet? :)

And so, the time has come to begin planning our 10 year reunion. I've spoken with several of you over the last few months, and I'm grateful to hear that so many folks are willing to help out with the planning - please contact me via email if you can contribute in any way. Also, if you're still in touch with anyone from our class, please spread the word about this blog: that way, we can save money on mailings and keep everyone in the loop.

In general, we've developed a basic plan to start with, and we'll be formalizing and amending this plan as the reunion weekend approaches. The festivities will take place this fall during Homecoming Weekend. (I will post confirmation when I have the exact dates, but as you all know, Homecoming tends to fall in late September or early October.) Here's a general idea of the activities we have in mind:

Friday:
  • Meet for pre-game (family friendly) dinner at Alex's Pizza (5:00 pm)
  • Attend RHS Homecoming football game (7:00 pm)
  • Bonfire & Beers after the game (10:00 pm - ????)

*Lots of people seem interested in an outdoor party after the game, so we're currently scouting for locations. If anyone has any ideas about where we could host this little shindig, please email me immediately.

Saturday:

  • Barbeque (family friendly) at Lion's Club Park (1:00 - 4:00 pm)
  • Drinks at Bruno's and/or the Tater Patch (8:00 pm - ???)

*We'll be renting a pavilion at the Lion's Club, and are hoping to make the barbeque a potluck. Please let me know if you would be willing to bring a dish or to contribute financially.

Sunday:

  • Goodbye Brunch (12:00 pm)

*We're working on a couple of possible locations for the Sunday brunch. If you have suggestions, please let me know.

I'd love to hear from you as soon as possible - please let me know if you have reunion-related questions or ideas. To post comments to this blog, you will need to register for a Google account - it's free, and you can use your existing email address. I'd appreciate it if you could post a comment here to check-in, and provide your current email: that way, I can compile a mass email list so that I can alert you when this page is updated. Or, feel free to just contact me via email: you'll find my contact info in my profile.

Hope everyone is well, and I'll be in touch again soon!

Best,

Candice Ball Richards, RHS 1998 Senior Class President

P.S. If anyone has any old pictures of 98ers that you'd like to share, please let me know!
